Gruelling 165-mile bike ride raises thousands for charity

#Firmwide

A team from Property Alliance Group has raised more than £12,500 for charity after cycling 165 miles from Whitehaven to Whitby Bay.

The group of colleagues and friends braved typically British weather and dozens of hills to complete the gruelling coast-to-coast challenge in just three days.

Smashing its £5,000 target, Alliance has so far raised £10,904 for Ronald McDonald House Manchester and £1,670 for HideOut East Manchester Youth Zone.

Alliance’s managing director, Alex Russell, who took part in the bike ride said: “With just four weeks’ notice, we pulled together a 10-strong team to take on this challenge and raise vital funds for two Manchester charities which support young people and their families.

“None of us are serious cyclists so even the practice rides were tough, causing many aches and pains and nearly killing some of us off! There were highs and lows throughout the three days, but we kept each other’s spirits up and were motivated by all the generous donations that kept coming through.

“To have raised such a significant amount for two fantastic charities is a brilliant achievement for all those involved, and we would like to thank everyone who donated for their support and kindness.”

The East Manchester Youth Zone ensures young people can discover their passion and purpose. The state-of-the-art space offers more than 20 activities and is staffed by skilled youth workers who believe in young people and help them see what they could achieve.

Serving Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital and St Mary’s Neonatal unit, Ronald McDonald House Manchester give families the chance to stay close to their child while they are in hospital.

Alliance has supported the charity for more than a decade including sponsoring its gala dinner. Since 2015, the event and other donations from Alliance have raised around £1.2m.
